Happy New Year!
We cannonballed into the water on Sunday with a rousing service that brought everybody
back into community after our long, long summertime wanderings.
The annual water-communion ritual capped a service that explored another UU tradition:
asking questions. We are a people of many questions. And we’re always on the hunt for more beautiful questions.
Beautiful questions are ones that have no “right” answers. They have a different job – two
jobs, actually: to connect us to each other, and to connect us to ourselves.
Scientists (and artists) sometimes speak of a “thirst for ignorance.” Only when we forget what we know (or think we know) can we ask the truly insightful questions the world needs now.
