Support Us
Giving
We believe that giving one’s time, talent, and treasure are spiritual practices that cultivate gratitude, hope, and connection within the community. Giving is more than charity – it is an intentional, sacred act that fosters compassion, supports social justice, and sustains community. Giving acknowledges that all life is interconnected and allows us to move from a mindset of scarcity to one of abundance.
Support Us
Financial contributions to the North Shore Unitarians (NSU) enable us to provide programs that empower our community to live with greater depth, meaning, and purpose.
Financial contributions may also be made to our monthly Outreach recipient. Outreach recipients are select registered charities operating on the North Shore, whose values and missions are closely aligned with those of NSU. Each month, a specific Outreach recipient is chosen. Recent Outreach recipients include community organizations that support mental health, food security, and environmental causes, and work to reduce domestic violence and homelessness in our community.
We’re Grateful for your Generous Support
Donations may be made by credit card, by clicking the Donate button below. You will be connected to Breeze, our secure online payment portal. Please indicate whether your donation is to support NSU (“NSUC General”), the monthly Outreach organization (“Outreach 100%”), or both (“Outreach/NSUC split 50-50”)
Financial contributions may also be made by cash, cheque, Interac™ e-transfers, text giving, pre-authorized debit, or transfer of shares.
North Shore Unitarians is a registered Canadian charity, and all financial contributions are fully tax-deductible. Tax receipts are sent to donors in February of each year. If you have questions about giving, payment methods, or tax receipts, please reach out to our Main Office at 604-926-1621 or info@northshoreunitarians.ca.
Annual Pledge Process
Each fall, our Stewardship Team invites members to make a pledge of financial support for the following year. Individuals are asked to complete a form (online or paper) to let NSU know the amount they plan to donate during the next calendar year, to support ongoing operations, programs, staff, and facilities. Payment of pledged amounts may be made by using the “Support Us” button and selecting “Pledge”, or by any of the other methods specified above.
Endowment Fund
The NSU endowment fund provides a meaningful way to leave a legacy. Whether it celebrates a happy occasion (such as the birth of a child), honours a lost loved one, or is a gift from your estate after you are gone, the endowment fund empowers individuals to make a difference for future generations.
The principal of an endowment remains in perpetuity. The interest is spent in specific ways as approved by the congregation.
If you are considering setting up an endowment, email our Treasurer at treasurer@northshoreunitarians.ca, who will answer your questions and confirm how you wish to proceed.
