LGBTQ Welcome!
WE ARE A WELCOMING CONGREGATION
The term “Welcoming Congregation” has a special meaning for us. It means that we are intentionally inclusive in welcoming people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. No matter who you love or how you love, you are welcome here!
OUR HISTORY OF SUPPORT
Unitarian Universalism (UU) is one of the few religions that has ordained openly LBGTQ people for decades! UU churches has long been supportive of Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay, Transgender, and Queer (LBGTQ) people and their families.
Our church actively affirmed that we welcome all sexual orientations and gender identities beginning in 1970. And this tradition continues today. We believe that our first principle of respecting “the inherent worth and dignity of every person,” applies equally to ALL people regardless of their sexual orientations, gender identities, or family structure.
PROTECTING LGBTQ+ RIGHTS
In addition to welcoming LBGTQ people into our church community, we also work to protect the civil and legal rights of LBGTQ people and families across the country.
WE OFFICIATE SAME SEX WEDDINGS
Unitarian Universalists have been at the forefront of the same-sex marriage debates, advocating for the right for each person to marry the partner of his or her choice. We love celebrating love — and welcome the opportunity to officiate LBGTQ weddings! Learn more here.
