Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
about Stewardship

What is “Pledging”?

Pledging means filling out a paper or online form to let us know the dollar amount you plan to give in support of the church’s finances during the coming year.  We use this information to plan our budget for the coming year and as one of many measures of our congregational health and commitment.

How do I pledge?

There are three ways to pledge: online (HERE), using a paper pledge form (HERE), and by sending an email to stewardship@northshoreunitarians.ca that lets us know the dollar amount you plan on contributing in 2025.

Why should I contribute?

It costs money to pay for operating costs such as our staff, building maintenance, and programming.  We pay for those expenses primarily using donations made by members and friends.

How much is appropriate for me to give?

People give more or less depending on their own circumstances, but the more generous you can be, the better for our community.

What if I can’t afford to give anything?

Members who are unable to give due to a difficult financial situation can contact our Treasurer for a one-year waiver.

When is my pledge due?

Payment of your 2025 pledge can be made anytime between now and December of next year (2025).

Can I pay my 2025 pledge early (in 2024)

Yes.  Paying early can give you a tax break – especially for new pledgers!  Although your 2025 pledge payment(s) are not due until the 2025 calendar year, some people like to pre-pay their pledge for next year in the current year.  If you pay your pledge early, please clearly label it as a pre-payment of your 2025 pledge, so we know how to apply the funds correctly.

Can I make monthly payments?

Yes!  Support us using whatever schedule works best for you.  Many people make monthly payments – or quarterly payments.  Some prefer paying in one lump sum.  Any of these are fine.

Will I be contacted by a board member?

Yes. Again this year, a Board Member will contact Members and Friends to check in and answer questions on the pledging process.

What payment methods are accepted?

We accept a variety of payment methods. See them HERE.
