A Welcome from our Board President

Barrie Forbes, our Board President

WELCOME TO NORTH SHORE UNITARIANs!

Our faith has so much to offer you. We believe in the Unity of All Creation with Love at its Heart. And we believe in you. We believe that whoever you are, wherever you come from, whomever you love, and whatever your beliefs – you are welcome here.

what we do

We celebrate with one another in times of joy, and hold one another in times of sorrow. We seek to learn and grow together, enriching our own lives, and we work to bless the world with our acts of service.

We come together to build community that nurtures our spirits and takes a stand for love and justice.  Our tradition, Unitarian Universalism, has historic roots but a fresh approach to religion and spirituality. It acknowledges that each of us is on our own journey, but also reminds us that we need one another along the way.

who we are

Our congregation includes people of all ages and of many different backgrounds. Atheists and Christians, Buddhists and Mystics, Jews and Sufis, all of the above (and more!) are invited to share, learn, grow and work together to build a better world.

Our tradition invites us to support one another through all that life brings us. It has been said of Unitarians that we do not have to think alike to love alike. When we gather, we bring our whole selves, and from that wholeness do our part to help heal the world.

Get to know us:
join us for Sunday Services

The best way to get to know us is to come to a Sunday Service (10:30am on most Sundays, September through June). Then come again. Each service is different . . . but each is designed to inspire us and help us live with more depth, meaning and purpose.

On Sundays, stay after the service for social hour (downstairs). Enjoy coffee or tea — and sometimes a soup or sandwich lunch! While there, stop by our "Welcome Table" (look for the white tablecloth). Board members will be there to greet you, chat informally, listen, share, and answer questions.

Our Sunday Services involve music (both performed pieces and hymns that we sing together), storytelling, lighting candles, and a message from a speaker.

We have comfy, wide chairs in our Sanctuary (some with arms and some without). The Sanctuary walls often feature art by local artists, creating a beautiful backdrop for our services.

whatever brings you here . . .

People often come here longing for a community to support them in living their deepest values. Sometimes people come in pain or confusion, looking for answers. How do I offer my children a moral foundation in these complex times? How do I cope with the challenges the world has thrown at me? Why do I feel empty even when things seem like they are going well? What is life calling me to be or do? Let’s explore these important questions together!

AN OPEN SPIRITUAL COMMUNITY

North Shore Unitarian is a welcoming and lively community. We gather to nurture depth, meaning and purpose in our lives. We draw understanding about our world and inner selves from many teachings and resources rather than one set of religious doctrines.

INSPIRing ACTIONS IN THE SERVICE OF LIFE

A main part of the mission of the North Shore Unitarians is to inspire actions in the service of life. We do that with acts of service within and beyond our congregation:
